For quite some time now, my 1993 Isuzu pickup has gotten lousy gas mileage (11-12 MPG) and has had an intermittent 'Check Engine' indication. I finally had those problems looked into. It turns out that the light was going on because of a bad O2 indicator, and that was causing the bad gas mileage. The auto shop fixed that.

To test out the fix, I drove to Priest Lake last Friday, pulling my teardrop trailer. When I got back I filled up the truck and discovered I had gotten 19 MPG on the trip. That means I will probably be back up to 20-22 MPG without the trailer. Just like I was getting when I purchased the truck all those years ago.

While I was up at Priest Lake I decided to fix some things in my gdvdslides slideshow program. I got all the fixes done and I will be adding a new capability to it today. I hope to publish the result very soon.

We had the 1st Annual Phuddy Duddy Cruisers Open Show & Rally last Saturday and Sunday. It was mainly a chance to get together with classic car and vintage trailer folds and exchange views and gossip. I really enjoyed the show and the chance to cook for a lot of people. I will turn this show into a YouTube video when I get a chance.

During the 1956 World Series, with Yogi Berra as his catcher, Don Larson pitched a perfect game. Don now lives in Hayden and has recently broken his hip, so he was unable to come to our cruise at the Paul Bunyon in Rathdrum. His son did make the cruise with Don's car:

I think Don is pretty proud of his baseball achievement. BTW, the car is a 1956 Dodge Lancer.

I taught a class on making cabochons on Sunday. There were three instructors (including me) and three students, so that worked out very well. I hope we passed along enough information to keep the students going with doing their own cabochons.

I am 1/3 of the way in to 3 weekends of camping. I spent Friday night at Dalton Gardens City Park and attended the car show on Saturday. This weekend, I will spend Saturday night at the River of Life Friends Church in Post Falls, and particapate in the car show on Sunday. The last weekend of the month I will be camping up at Priest Lake. This is a pretty ending to a very busy summer.

The last car shows of the year are coming up. The only one I will be going to is our own Phuddy Duddy Cruisers Car Show in Post Falls, at the church where I attend the Linux Users Group Meetings. That will be this coming Saturday and Sunday. We will camp there on Saturday and have a potluck that night. The car show will be on Sunday, where the church attendees can see the cars.

I bought a portable car port from Costco last week and have assembled it the day before we got a lot of rain. I will be storing my teardrop trailer in it, and also my tractor. I should have gotten something years ago, but you just let things like that pile up.

I had pre-registered for last Saturday at the Coaster Classic Car Show at Silverwood, but it rained so hard I didn't go. I went to the show on Sunday instead, and they honored my registration.

The day started out bright and sunny, but by the afternoon, it was raining again. Despite that, there were at least 290 cars that showed up for the event. I took pictures of as many as I could, which was 223. The pictures can be seen on the car club web site.
