April 6, 2016

I am currently writing a book for new Linux users called Linux Mint Beginner's Guide. The book explains what Linux can do for a new user, and how they can find, install and use Linux Mint with the Maté desktop.

I am posting parts of the book here so anyone who is interested in helping me can download them, add changes, suggestions and comments, then email the commented document to me. If you do that, I will add your name to the Acknowledgements page of the book as a thank you gesture. The book is being written using LibreOffice, so each section is presented here in ODT format. If you want to download and edit a chapter, you can right-click on a link below and click on 'Save Link as'. Once you have saved a local copy of a chapter file, you can use LibreOffice to review it.

If you have any suggestions for changes or additions to the book, you can use the Comment capability in LibreOffice to mark those changes or additions. Simply place the cursor in the position where you want to comment and press Ctl-Alt-C. When you have finished with your comments, save the document and email the commented document back to me.
