Cabbage and Apples

Heat the drippings is a 12 inch Dutch Oven over medium heat over about 20-22 coals. Add the onion and cabbage.

Cook, covered, over 10-12 coals to steam the cabbage for 25 to 30 minutes, or just until tender. Stir occasionally to keep the onion from browning too much.

Stir in the apples, lemon juice, sugar, and salt. Cover and continue to cook over 8-10 coals for another 25 - 30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the apples are soft and cooked down.
