Sourdough Butterscotch Tannies

A Butterscotch equivalent to Brownies for folks who are not particularly fond of chocolate

Mix together melted butter or margarine, sugar, egg, and sourdough starter together in a medium sized bowl. Mix together flour, baking powder and salt in a separate dish. Add to the butter mixture. Stir in the vanilla, pecans and butterscotch morsels, and then pour into a well-greased and floured 8-by8-inch baking pan. Place the pan in a 12" Dutch oven with a roast rack in the bottom. Bake at moderate 325 F for 40 to 45 minutes or until it checks done when a toothpick comes out clean.

Place 16 live briquettes on the lid of the oven and 7 underneath, 4 widely disbursed under the bottom and 3 between the feet to heat the sidewalls.
